Why Give?

The Rockville Public Library is a free public library for the Town of Vernon. We are an Association Library, incorporated in 1893 and constructed in 1904. What that means is that the Rockville Public Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, not a municipal library.  This year the town of Vernon will contribute approximately one third of the Rockville Library’s annual operating funds. The remainder is raised through the Annual Appeal campaign, support from local business and grants,  income generated from a modest endowment, gifts and bequests.

Donations to our Annual Appeal provide us with revenue we can use today, and donations to our endowment fund provide us with security for the future.

How can you support the Library ?

1. Give to the Annual Appeal

Contributions to the Annual Appeal are accepted at any time during the year to help fund our collections, programs, and services, as well as the general operation of Rockville Public Library. Monies from the Annual Appeal help fund the book and audio/visual collections, new technology like Wi-Fi, childrens and teen programs, and cultural activities. Every gift, regardless of size, is gratefully appreciated and needed!
Double your donation in 5 minutes or less at no additional cost - through matching gifts. It takes only a moment to fill out your company's matching gift form. Please call or email your Human Resources Department, or check online, and send in the signed form with your donation.

Participate by donating funds for books or audio visual materials honoring family members, friends, hard to buy for relatives, favorite teachers, or any special person in your life. Gifts may be given for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or any special occasion. A bookplate will be placed in the item in the name of the person you are honoring

You will have the opportunity to give the name of the person to be remembered.

5.. Planned Giving

Planned giving is a way to provide for future gifts of money, securities or other forms of property to a charity of your choice. A Planned Gift to the Library can be an important part of estate planning, resulting in immediate tax benefits for you as the donor, or later for your estate. Many of our valued donors have found that planned giving allows them to make a much more substantial gift than they would have thought possible in their lifetime.

 6.. Endow Cash or Securities

A gift of cash ,marketable securities , or an unneeded life insurance policy, helps the library's endowment fund grow and may help you reduce capital gains assessments. Gifts can be made directly or in memory /honor of an  individual. Consult your financial advisor or attorney about the potential tax benefits.
If you would like to make this type of donation please call the Director of the Library, Donna Enman, at 860-875-5892 x23. or email her at denman@biblio.org.
